To live with, manage, and recover from substance abuse can be extremely difficult. Add to it the complication of coping with a mental illness, and the challenge becomes even greater. Many people dealing with concurrent disorders cannot manage either condition; managing both can become an overwhelming task. With the right type of support, thosewith concurrent issues can recover and learn to cope successfully.

John Fox teaches in the Co-occurring Disorderd Advanced Citation program in addition to other programs at Douglas College. John spent 25 years in clinical and administrative postions in the field of mental health and social services. He has consulted provincially, nationally & internationally on mental health and addictions.
